Welcome the End of the Summer With a Bang

If you are looking for a great way to wrap up the summer, here’s an idea.  Invite everyone over for a Labor Day party.  If you need some tips to make the gathering a success, keep the following in mind.   Spruce up the Backyard   While the Labor Day weekend is all about not working, it’s worth the time to use the weekend to get your backyard ready for a party.  With kids going back to school, you might be able to find a few teenagers in the neighborhood who need some cash.  Help the economy and increase your party’s chance of success, by hiring those students to help with the sprucing.   Formulate a Food Plan   If providing all the food for a party is too daunting for you, consider asking guests to bring some treats from their refrigerators. Depending on your style you can assign specific items to each guest or you can open things up and have a potluck. If you assign dishes, consider including chips, salads and desserts.   Simplify the Clean up   You can cut down your clean up time by using disposable dishes and accessories.  You won’t need to worry about getting dishes out of the cabinets, and you’ll give your dishwasher a rest. Make things even easier by providing plenty of garbage cans for guest to use throughout the party area.   Welcome the end of summer with a bang.  Make it a Labor Day to remember.  K&N Sales hopes you have a great one.

The start of a new academic year means it’s time to for your children to eat at school again.  Obviously, they can’t take your kitchen with them.  However, here are some healthy food ideas that will easily fit in their backpacks.   Corn and Zucchini Fritters   These treats start with whole wheat pancake batter.  Add frozen corn and grated zucchini.  The zucchini will add moisture when you cook them like a pancake.  A small cup of Greek yogurt is the perfect complement for your student’s lunch.  They won’t leave their lunchbox on the counter.   The Elvis Burrito   If your goal is to have your kids say, “Viva, school lunch!”, start with a toasted tortilla.  Spread peanut butter on it.  Sprinkle on pieces of bacon.  Finish up the treat by wrapping up the tortilla complete with banana slices.  Don’t be surprised if you hear, “Thank you very much” when you add this treat to their lunch.   Mini-Bagel Breakfast Sandwich   Breakfast food for lunch? It will definitely be a hit.  Spread cream cheese on both halves of a bagel.  Stack on scrambled eggs, a tomato slice and Canadian bacon. The great thing about this treat is you can serve it as an after school snack as well.  Just pop it in the microwave.   Make lunch time the best time this school year.  Put your kitchen to full use and get your kids ready for academic success with a healthy lunch.

The start of a new school is here.  Whether your kids are starting kindergarten or college, you want them to hit the ground running and achieve academic success.  Here are a few ideas to make the first days of school go as smoothly as possible.   Get Organized   Make sure you have all your ducks in a row for the new school year.  Get a supply list from your child’s school and pick up those items before the first day of school.  Plan out your route to and from school.  If car pools are needed, make sure everyone knows who is responsible for driving when.  It is a good idea to set up your cabinets to store any items you will need throughout the year.   Meet the Teachers   Take advantage of every opportunity to meet your child’s new teachers and see their new school.  It is a great chance to make a good first impression on the person or people who will be a major influence on your child and by extension your family for the next 10 months.  Hopefully, your school will provide an event for parents and students to interact with other administrators and support staff as well.   Ease Back into The School Routine   Don’t wait until the first day of school to leave behind your summer schedule.  If your young student needs to get in the habit of waking up early again, allow at least a few days to gradually get back into the groove.  Reestablishing a routine slowly will help your child feel more secure and set them up for success.   May your family start of the school year with a bang.  When you are looking for assistance making your home more suitable for your young scholars needs, contact K&N Sales.

As summer is nearing its end, hopefully you have done everything you wanted to before school starts up again.  Here are a few ideas from K&N Sales to help you wrap up the summer with a flourish.   Take A Hike   Whether you go for an overnight trip or just spend a half-day on the trail, take some time to enjoy the great outdoors in your own backyard.  Several state parks are within a short drive of Houston.  Also, city parks in the city offer an even more convenient getaway.  If you’re going to be walking, be sure to bring some water from your refrigerator to stay hydrated.   Go On a Wine Tour   The hill country of Texas is ripe with winery.  You are sure to find just the wine you like not to far from home.  You may come home with too much wine to fit in your cabinets.  In that case, contact K&N for help with your new wine storage needs.   Visit a Water Park   Is there a more fun way to beat the heat than sliding down a water slide? Well, of course not.  A water park offers fun for just one day or enough entertainment for a whole week of slipping and sliding.  There are numerous options at various distances from Houston.  Be sure to have your washing machine ready for your swimsuits when you get back home.   Finish up the summer with a bang.  You can stay close to home or take a trip.  Check your list and make sure you get everything done before September arrives.
