Unless an unexpectedly huge crowd shows up at your home on Thanksgiving, you will be eating leftovers from the meal for at least a week.  On the plus side, this means a break from cooking for a while.  However, there are a few things to keep in mind before you set some food aside for later.   Don’t Wait to Store the Leftovers   It is best to refrigerate or freeze perishable foods in two hours or less.  Bacteria grows best in an environment between 40 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit, so be sure to get your food sealed and stored in a refrigerator or freezer as promptly as possible.  You made need to be creative and flexible if your guests are still grazing on the some of the food.   Don’t Thaw at Room Temperature   It is safest to thaw leftovers gradually in the refrigerator or in a pan of cold water.  Defrosting in water should be done while the food is in sealed plastic bags.  If time is short, food can be thawed in a microwave.   Do Heat Your Food Up Right   With the volume of leftovers you have, you will probably end up using any container you can find.  However, when it comes to heating up your leftovers, be sure to use containers that are designed to stand up to the heat of a microwave oven.  It is best to stick with containers that are designated as “microwave safe”.  Also, cover your food with plastic wrap when you reheat it.  This will help keep in the moisture.   Enjoy your holidays.  Also, take the time to make sure you can enjoy all the leftovers as well.  Contact K&N Sales for assistance with picking appliances to store and reheat those leftovers.

Get Prepared for an Enjoyable Thanksgiving Day

You would like to be able to relax on Thanksgiving Day.  It would be great to have all the details taken care of so you can greet your guests and enjoy the day with a minimum of distractions.  Make sure these tasks are off your list and your Thanksgiving Day will be even more enjoyable.   Assign Cooking Tasks   If you have friends and family helping out with the cooking, be sure to assign tasks well ahead of time.  This will give your contributors time to prepare.  It will also assure that your table will be filled with the best offerings possible.   Thaw That Bird   If you are baking a turkey, clear out a space in your refrigerator a few days before the holiday. Once you do so, put that bird in and let it thaw.  This will ensure that the turkey is ready to go when the time comes to put it in the oven.   Get Ready to Set the Table   Double check that you have enough seating space for all of your guests.  It’s a good idea to set up the tables and chairs in the configuration that you plan to use.  This gives you an opportunity to make sure all chairs are in good shape and your seating plan will be effective.  If you find you will need more chairs and/or tables, call on guests to bring theirs.   Get the House Ready   Your house may need a thorough cleaning before guests arrive.  If so, delegate this task to household members not involved in the cooking.  You can also have them carry out other tasks like last minute shopping runs and setting tables.   Obviously, there is much to do before Thanksgiving Day arrives.  The more prepared you are before Thursday, the more successful the holiday will be.  Contact K&N Sales for assistance getting your home ready for any special occasion.

A good bottle of wine is a typical gift to give to the host/hostess of a holiday party. As the host or hostess receiving these bottles of wine this holiday season, you may begin to wonder where you will store it all.  If you don’t have a wine cellar, a wine refrigerator is a great option that will keep all of your wine in tip top shape.   Picking the Wine Storage Unit that You Need   A good wine refrigerator gives you an ideal environment for storage.  Sub Zero has a wine storage solution that should fit your needs. Consider these questions as you decide what unit will best fill your space.   How much wine are you going to collect?  Purchase a unit that allows room for your collection to grow.  It’s better to have too much space than to run out of room.   Do you want a glass door? If you want to be able to see your wine in the refrigerator be sure that the glass door has a protective coating.  This will assure that the proper environment is maintained inside the unit.   Is the unit stable? A compressor with even a small vibration can be detrimental to the wine inside a fridge.  Make sure that bottles are protected from any shaking.   Once you have the wine storage unit you need, you can get it set up and start filling it with the bottles your guests bring you this holiday season.  Feel free to add to your collection with wines that you select as well.  Contact K&N Sales for assistance in picking out a wine fridge for your budding collection.
