While it is now officially fall, native Houstonians know that we won’t be seeing a temperature drop anytime soon.  A distinct four seasons, that is something we are unaccustomed to in Texas.  With the nice weather, what better way to relax outdoors than with a cold beverage in hand? This month, we’ve looked at wine storage, beer storage, and coffee machines.  Next up, icemakers.   interior-aboutIce cubes can be more advanced than you think.  We all have used ice trays in our freezers at some point in our lives.  However, there is so much more that is available on the market for your enjoyment.  If you’ve ever been to Sonic, you know they are famous for their slushes and limeades.  Part of what makes their drinks so unique is the ice they use.  In fact, a New York Times articles touched on the phenomenon of munchable ice which sells like hot cakes.  While the data is a little outdated, sales of machines that make easier-to-chew ice jumped 23% from 2003 to 2006.  Munchable ice continues to be popular today.   Scotsman Ice Systems is a pioneer in the industry and has been selling ice-making machines since the 1950s.  They also created munchable ice, or nugget ice, so we can thank them for that!  Scotsman offers two main options. The Brilliance Gourmet Cuber that produces crystal-clear, taste-free, and odorless ice.  The unique shape of the ice melts slower which means drinks maintain their true flavor for a longer period of time.  The Brilliance Nugget Ice Machine produces the soft, crunchy nugget ice we discussed earlier.  The option is up to you based on your preferences.   To store your favorite drinks, recall Sub-Zero’s undercounter model that doesn’t take up much space and is a dedicated area for your beverages.  If you are ready to crunch some ice and create some fancy drinks for your friends and family, visit our showroom and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Houzz!
