Last week, we took a look at the impact that technology has had on the home, specifically LED lighting in cabinetry.  This week, we dive into other ways that innovation has made a presence in the home.  We will take a look at high-tech cabinets and automating your cabinetry.

Power234It seems like your phone is attached to your hip these days.  Whether it’s checking e-mail, social media, texting, or browsing the web, we spend a large portion of our day on our phones.  It can be expected that you will check your phone while cooking dinner in your kitchen.  Hi-tech cabinets offer USB chargers so you can continue to have your phone handy while you are cooking.  The need for power and charging capabilities extends beyond the kitchen and includes the bath and the home office.  Hafele has a wide variety of options ranging from single USB charging ports to pop-up surge protected outlet strips designed to be easily accessed and centrally located.  This allows you to charge anywhere from one to four devices including smart phones and tablets all at once.  To view the options at your disposal, also including docking stations and charging grommets, click here.

Wood-Mode has also made efforts to innovate with its new product introductions.  At KBIS earlier this year, we saw firsthand the new features that will soon become standard in the home.  Whether its LED lighting in the Nova or YardleyRecessed collections, customers want convenience and accessibility.  Automating your cabinets has become a nice solution, especially for those hard-to-reach cabinets.  A servo drive is an electronic mechanism that opens cabinet doors and drawers for you.  By simply pressing a button, your cabinet door will open so you can place pots and pans or whatever else is needed inside.  By pressing the button once more, the cabinet doors close by themselves.  How cool!  If you would like to learn more about integrating USB chargers or automating your cabinets in your home, visit our showroom and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Houzz!
