Nothing worth doing is ever easy. Living through a remodel is not the simplest task, but it will all be worth it in the long run. Here is some advice to get you through the inconveniences of a kitchen remodel.

Everything but the Kitchen Sink

If your home already has a guesthouse or laundry room with a sink, then these can certainly act as a temporary kitchen during the remodel. If not, then set up a temporary kitchen somewhere else in the house ahead of time. Buying takeout all the time gets hard on your budget, plus you will need room to make the kid’s lunches, brew coffee and pour cereal. You should consider a portion of the garage or back porch as a designated stand-in kitchen with standalone shelving, portable tables and folding chairs. jennair10Small appliances, such as microwaves, slow cookers, toaster ovens and hotplates are invaluable during a kitchen remodel. Either move your refrigerator to your temporary kitchen or find a minifridge on Craigslist or Freecycle. Stock up on biodegradable or recyclable disposable plates, cups and utensils to cut down on dishwashing in the bathtub, sink or a cooler with soap and water. This will make clean up faster and more manageable.
