Home Appliance & Tech Trends from KBIS 2019
It’s that time again where we dive into the latest home appliance trends we witnessed at KBIS 2019. As always, this year brought tons of new features, new products, and some lively new colors into the mix. Here is a breakdown of the top trends we saw at KBIS this year. Your kitchen deserves some color, and appliance makers agree. So it came as no surprise to see a number of big brands debuting appliance lines in a variety of vibrant shades from robin-egg blue to complete technicolor kitchen dreams. The colorful appliances featured a number of different styles and appeal to people looking for vintage-inspired designs as well as more sleek and modern takes on traditional styles. Dacor, Samsung, and GE all unveiled new color families into their lines of appliances. In addition to bold pops of color, new smart kitchen technology from CES, KBIS, IBS added unprecedented levels of innovation to the mix. Here are a few standout pieces of technology to enter the market. The GE Kitchen Hub centers around a 27-inch touchscreen and ventilation combo that is designed to fit an inlaid microwave and ventilation hub. Users can also look up recipes directly on the screen and queue episodes of their favorite cooking show on Netflix. GHSP’s Smart Digital Backsplash was a favorite of the CES 2019 and for a very good reason. The smart surface transforms an ordinary kitchen into a technology hub by converting the backsplash to an edge-to-edge touchscreen, bringing the oven’s cooking controls directly to you, no matter where you are in your kitchen. The KitchenAid Smart Oven+ takes the original model to the next level by including a powered steamer, grill, and baking stone attachments. The oven includes a 4.5-inch LCD touch display and is controllable through the KitchenAid app letting users check on the status of their meal in the oven from anywhere. The Smart Oven+ also includes Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice control for those looking for a hands-free solution.
